Been looking for dandelion but have found any yet. Calcifer's Phoenix worms should be here tomorrow. Gonna get more crickets too. He has gone through 40 in about 3 days :p

What a cute little guy you have there!! I need to find us some dandelion greens as well. I think Drac would love them.

By the way, did you name him Calcifer after the fire demon from Howl's Moving Castle.

Is there any other? :) Wife and I was going through Studio Ghibli names and that one fit perfectly :) He's a little mischievous, but cute. His face also reminded us of Calcifer.

Hehe. Calcifer is my favorite part of that movie.
Gave him a little soak today. Maybe help his shedding feel a little better. Still have not gotten him to take veggies or fruit. Glad we got vitamins, calcium, and some crickets :)

Another question, if you please...

Got the Phoenix worms. Read some where that once I had those I would not have to dust with calcium anymore. Do I still need to dust with calcium and vitamins time to time? Too much conflicting stuff online for newBs like myself :p

He loves the Phoenix worms! He ate 20 when I got home last night. He must be getting to a growth point or something. My wife says we should have named him Piglet. He eats quite a bit. Oh, and now he eats some of the salad my wife makes him! Woot! Thanks for all the help. He is doing good. If anyone can let me know about the calcium and vitamin powder, it would be appreciated. I can ask in the feeding section if need be :)

We're glad to hear that Calcifer is enjoying his Phoenix Worms! Breeders recommend that all feeders, including Phoenix Worms, should be dusted with vitamins 2X per week to ensure good nutrition. However, please do not dust Phoenix Worms with calcium because these worms already provide naturally balanced calcium:phosphorus. If you're also serving crickets or roaches or other feeders that are high in phosphorus, you must dust those feeders with calcium to try to achieve balanced minerals.

BTW, get ready for lots of shedding. Breeders have found that baby beardies grow 26% faster when Phoenix Worms are part of the diet :) .

Thanks Dr. Phoenix!!! That helps even me, lol. I do all my dusting on the crickets and let him enjoy the tasty flavor of his P-worms without the powder. :)

Thank you for the response. I ordered more worms last night :) He really seems to enjoy them. Glad that he is now eating his salad too.
Nice to know that it appears I picked the right site for questions on raising Calcifer. Nice to get input from the folks making his food :) as well as the breeders here.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
