My first post was in the ER forum. My current baby beardie had a little incident, and I quickly wanted to get help.
Anyways, my first beardie that I had got was given to me terminally ill. I had taken her in so she didnt have to pass all alone in the pet store. I had named her Dovah and did everything I could to make her passing peaceful. After her, i had bought a healthy male and named him Paarthurnax (yes, there is a Skyrim theme going, and it will continue!). He was perfect!! He ate fine and his energy levels were high. I connected with him instantly and became obsessed with him!! He was just so adorable!
Well, an unfortunate event happened.
(a bit of background info, skip if you want)
I foster A LOT of animals, but not a disgusting and unhealthy amount. At the time, we had 11 cats in the house that were just fosters. So it's hard to be in a room that a cat isnt in. We have a decently large house, so none of them are cluttered anywhere or anything. I have fostered for 4 years and i am almost 20 years old! In those years, I fostered this cat that i absolutely fell in love with, so i decided to keep him. He mainly stays in my room, and he is such a pussy (LOL pun). He diesnt want to hurt anything and he is definitely submissive. I named him Loki. I foster both cats and dogs and whatever else that needs care, so my expertise is mainly on dogs and cats. Going into owning a reptile was new, though I had a best friend growing up that owned over 10 reptiles, which is how I had gotten so interested. I didnt take the best precautions of keeping him safe from the fosters, but it was not my intent for him to get hurt... anyways, back to the story....
OKAY. It as before the week of Christmas and we were just putting our lights up outside. It had taken a few hours, so once i was done, I went upstairs to my room to feed Paarthurnax his dinner. I approached his cage and his lid was slightly opened and he wasnt inside. I started panicking and called my husband up to the room. I then saw my cat Loki (who was always curious as to what Paarth was) infront of Paarthurnax on the floor under the desk in which his tank was placed. I was insanely mad! I loved this cat, but i have also grown an attatchment to Paarthurnax! I pushed Loki aside and picked up Paarth. His mouth was open and he lunged at me at first. He was obviously pissed off and defensive. I then saw a gash in his side as if a claw of Loki dug in to him, his tail was crushed and rotting, he had a scrape on his back, and his eye was either gashed out or pushed in, but when he opened his eye, or attempted to, it was black and hollow. So i burst out in tears and demanded to be taken to the vet. We had no choice but to go to Banfield because it was on the weekend and they were the only ones open at the time. It was the vet in Petsmart. Knowing Petsmart reputation, I still had high hopes that they would atleast know about bearded dragons since they are in a store that sells thme... well, they didnt. All they could do was give me pain meds... so I took him home, still upset and worried.. He stopped moving so much and wouldnt eat or drink. I stayed up with him for two night until he passed. The next day i was supposed to take him to a specialist, but he couldnt make it any longer.. I was so depressed and angry towards my cat..Which is huge because Anyone who knows me knows that i am utterly in love and obsessed with Loki...
So, as a christmas present, my mom asked if i was ready for another one. I felt horrible because I had owned 2 previously and they both died, one was inevitable.. but i felt so responsible for Paarthurnax's death. But i was determined.
And now I have Aela "The Huntress" (yes from Skyrim). She is a leatherback.
I am amazed with her! She has a HUUGE appetite! she is growing so fast! And recently, I had moved the tank closer to me so i could be more in control and aware of who and what comes near her tank. Well, we had yet to hang up the lights and it had fallen on her.

But yes, that is MY story. She is absolutely beautiful and I would do anything for my lovely babies!!

It is never easy loosing a pet, although I am glad to hear your current one is doing fine and is healthy.
