Hi Everyone,

I found this site while I was doing research on Beardies. It's an excellent site with tons of info and I can see how much you all love your beardies and each other so I wanted to join and say hello!

I have a ton of questions, but I'm reading a lot and getting a lot of answers.
I almost bought a beardie yesterday, but quickly realized how little I knew about owning and caring for one so now I'm trying to do as much research as I can before I take the next step. Ultimately I'd love to get his/her viv setup, get the temps stable, and have plenty of accessories and food stuffs on-hand before I bring the lil bugger home.

Reading the posts and stories about all your beardies, I don't know what to say....it's amazing. You all love your BD's so much and they have such personalities, I can only hope my experience is as pleasant as yours.
I was so happily shocked to hear about Beardie Burritos, hahaha, and I just can't wait until my GF and I can chill out on the couch with our BD and snuggle.

I hope to have everything I need within a few weeks to get my viv going and bring a nice lil dude home. I promise pictures will be posted shortly after.

Please keep on lovin your beardies and posting stories and info, you have no idea how helpful you are....at least to this n00b!!

Welcome James! So happy to see someone doing their research before getting their new dragon. I did and it has made all the difference. We have a fat, lazy, happy dragon. And yes, he is well loved. We all look forward to meeting your new baby when you are ready to bring him home. I'm sure you have noticed, we all love pictures, the more the better. In fact, if you want, when you get everything set up, post a picture in Enclosures and a description of temps and all. If you ask folks will help tweek your set up till it is perfect.

welcome James! Like you, it took me a while before getting my first beardie. I do found this forum while searching for any write ups in raising a bearded dragon. I am too are glad finding this forum before getting my baby. But a warning, once you've got your first beardie definitely you'll want more. This hobby is addicting. Let me tell you after a month of owning one beardie I immediately bought another one and now I'm planning on buying one more.

Good luck and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask a lot of people here will share their thoughts and guide you in raising a healthy dragon.

I hope to have the tank by Tuesday and all the accessories I bought last night should be shipped soon, so the viv will be setup ASAP and I'd definitely like to post some pics and get feedback on setup and temps and whatnot.

My sweetie found a respectable Herp Vet not too far from where we live, so I need to make a trip out there and "interview" them to make sure they will be acceptable for the care of our baby.. :lol:

Everything seems to be coming together so it won't be long now. Watch, I'll get everything setup and then won't be able to find a beardie we both fall in love with.. hahah that would be my luck...

Well I finally picked up my beardie from the pet store.
She's just getting the feel for her new home and she's pretty stressed out from the move (20 minute ride home) so as soon as I got her into the viv, I snapped a few pics as quickly as I could (hands were shaking so pics are blurry-ish). I wanted to get all the stressful stuff out of the way and then let her relax for the rest of the evening.

Yes, I removed the thermometer probe from the basking branch after I snapped the pics... :lol:

Alright, time to check out my new house...Oh, HI! :mrgreen:




I noticed today she is much lighter in color, as she was at the pet store. Last night when I brought her home she was very grey, as you can see in the pics above these. I hope that means she's relaxing a bit now..

Pet stores tend to keep them at lower than needed temps so they will appear to be dark or grey.
Now that you have Sakura under the proper lighting with the correct temps she will now show her true colors.
