Hi!

My name is Amber and I thought I would introduce myself. I am fostering my first Beardie and in all likely hood will be keeping her. I love her her already. In addition to her I keep Leos, Cresteds, Banded Gecko, R. Sara, Mourning Geckos and a box turtle. I also have a large Dubia colony going. I work at a humane society where she was brought into. I also have two dogs and lots of other foster kids coming through.

Thank You! I can't wait until she is showing her true colors. Poor girl was in shed through all of this. I really love her already. I'm excited for her to show her personality more once she settles in!

Those are just a few of my other kids. I have 22 geckos total. :blob5:

That is wonderful she has chosen you to be her keeper!
We don't really chose them, they burrow into our hearts
and own us! Suddenly we have crickets, roaches,
and worms on the grocery list . :laughhard: We become
beardie slaves and love it, too! Congrats on keeping
her, she is a gorgeous girl.

8) I've had crickets and worms on my grocery list for awhile, now I will just need more. I also have a nice Dubia colony going and she seems to like them.

Do you have any tips on switching her over for a pellet diet to veggies/fruits?

There's a number of tricks I've read across the board -

- ALWAYS offer veg. No matter what.
- Maybe put some worms in the dish, so the leaves move and catch the attention of your beardie. Maybe when she is going for a worm she catches some green that eats it along with the bug.
- Catch her by surprise. If she has her mouth open, put a piece of veg in. Omnomnom? lol
- This one seems harsh, but tough love seems to be another option. Hold on feeding her bugs (make sure she's healthy enough this wont harm her) and only offer veg. Eventually she will realise she needs the veg to curb her hunger.

This is from my own personal experience - Bindy LOVES his veg dry and crispy. After his basking light has dried it all out, he digs right in to his salad. He's a bit of an oddball, but at least he gets his greens somehow :p

Good luck!

My gosh, of course you would already have them on your list with all those little ones you have.
 ...Sorry, I had a senior moment there... :laughhard: I got a dubia colony
for Christmas from my adult son and family. He has a huge established colony. They have 4
dragons as do I. My son thought it would be a cool gift for the Mom who has everything.
I was excited to get totes with egg crates and roaches for Christmas. :blob5: . They even got
a huge Christmas bow for the top. :D Sorry, I have no experience with pellets so can't help
you there. The above poster bltkpo has some excellent ideas!
Enjoy your little beardie!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
