Our family has been in the market for a new pet for over a year (since one of out cats passed away). We finally settled on a bearded dragon. It took a couple months to fully figure out how we would do it, but today we picked up our new addition.

He (she? we don't know yet) is about 12 weeks old and basically screamed "PICK ME!!!!!!!" at us from inside the cage. The first pic is what he did when we went up to look. He is very pretty. The pics don't do him justice, his belly is almost white, and then his back is a beautiful mix of green, brown and tan (and a tiny bit of orange). He has settled in nicely, even eating ~5 crickets today.

He was named by my 8yo who is still bitter that we didn't name her 5yo sister Sarah... We decided to give her this one.

Welcome Zaxxi! Very nice new addition. Judging by pics and looking at all the things I do in my babies (head, tail and shape of body)...I would say Zaxxi is a girl. Of course you have to wait until about 6 months old to be sure but my guess is you have a very pretty little girl. If Zaxxi is your first beardie, I highly recommend the Newbie pages you can access from the home screen of this website to help with making sure you have the cage, lighting and food set up just right for your little one. Welcome your new little one. Make sure you give Zaxxi a few days to adjust to her new home and all its new sounds and smells before handling her too much to minimize the stress of all the changes (Very hard to do,I know). Congrats on your new little addition.

My girls will be super excited to hear that there's a chance that Zaxxi might be a girl.

We are trying hard not to bug her too much. I figure it's enough for her to get used to our busy house. We are watching my sister's kids this weekend so there are 7 kids in the house, a cat and a dog. I've decreed that just watching us is enough stimulation for the baby dragon. I put a blanket over her cage last night so that she could sleep without seeing any of the other creatures.

Hi there....that's a cute little dragon, and looks alert + healthy ! Good idea on the blankie over the tank for privacy. I replied to your post in the health forum....and by the way if you don't mind posting a pic of her with tail arched up while she is sitting on a flat surface [ after she's settled in for a week or 2 ] I would love to test my skills on the gender guessing to see if I'm still sharp. :) Sometimes you can tell at a very young age based on what you see underneath the tail.

I will try to take a pic later today or tomorrow. There are quite a few kids who are interested in having a better idea.

Currently, there are kids who are sketching the tank and then their ideas for what to do decoration wise.

Does this show anything?

I don't see anything at all, but it can be hard to tell through pictures. Males have two small bumps, but sometimes they're less noticeable. If you'd like I can post a picture of my boy Mushu's bumps. He's the most noticeable male I've ever seen. Females are harder to notice. It's a single horizontal bump right above the vent.

Yeah, I'm thinking you've got a girl. I'm definitely seeing one bump not two. Good thing Zaxxi could be a girl's name or a boy's name.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
