Heavy Hearts

It's with my heavy heart, I lost 1, possibly 2 of my babies tonight. Babygirl (formerly called the runt) and Hunter. 2 of the 3 that we rescued from the local pet shop. I worked the evening shift this afternoon, prior to leaving both were active and acting normal. Earlier in the day, both had run time in the house (just as the rest of my beardies do), I cam home and found Babygirl curled up on the 'floor' of her tank...at some point this evening, my poor baby passed. All night tonight, we have been holding and focused on Hunter...as we found him first (before we found Babygirl), laying on the 'floor' of his tank, pale, and lethargic. Though he has been taking breaths but at this point I cannot tell if it is reflex, or actual breathing. At this point, I can only pray that he did pass while I was holding him, and that his last moments were peaceful.

Status update, Hunter is my little fighter, I went to bed figuring I'd find him this morning having moved up to bearded heaven, but he's still taking breaths, but not moving. I will be calling the vet first thing when they open today. I'm hoping and praying it's a temporary paralyzing event...though since he had loss of bowel movements last night...I can only hope so much.

Another update.

Took Hunter to the vet...healing thoughts and prayers desperately needed...the vet doesn't know if there's much he can do, going to give him some dextrose, and some epinephrine. I'll know more about my poor Hunter baby in about an hour or so.....

Thank you...please everyone keep those positive thoughts and healing prayers coming. Dr just called, Hunter is back to breathing normally, but is still neurologically not responding. I have to call back in about 2 and a half hours for another update.

I too am sorry... it's not an easy thing by any means.. we lost Omni last Dec. and I still get choked up when I hear stories such as yours... I too love that quote.. so so true..

Another update:

We stopped and saw Hunter about an hour ago. They are force feeding him a high caloric substance, giving him electrolytes, and started antibiotics. His breathing has improved, but he's still not responding reflexively speaking. His eyes say he's still with us, and fighting...He has to stay another 24-48 hours before we know if he's going to be able to come home though.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and support...I didn't think I'd have to experience this pain so soon...

We laid Babygirl to rest this afternoon in the center of our rock garden...I will look for a beautiful floral bush to commemorate her

As of the last time I spoke with the vet, no change since I saw him around 4pm. He was breathing more regularly, and was opening and closing his eyes better than his eyes just barely open (non-blinking) last night.

At this point, we don't know what he could have eaten from the floor (as he was roaming that morning, and who knows what bugs I didn't see laying on the floor). The vet said it could be viral/bacterial, so they are giving him antibiotics.

We got Dizzy, Hunter, and Babygirl in October of this past year, and they were about a month old. They came to us via the owner of the pet store where we were ordering crickets from. A fellow customer brought them to her, as they did not want the babies (they were what was left from the clutch the customer's son didn't expect). Dizzy got his name, mainly because we were given their set up (which included a coiled UVB), and he started to show signs of mbd. Hunter was named for his incredible hunting ability. Babygirl was the runt of the clan, since she was the smallest, and the only female...it was a no-brainer.

I am missing her so much...usually after we (humans) eat dinner she would go nuts in her tank trying to get out...all night I keep imagining her doing just that
