heating roaches

I have a human heating pad for our roaches, so far it's working awesome BUT Im having an issuse, I dont trust the heating pad on 24/7 especially when we're sleeping. So what I've been doing is leaving it on all day, it gets turned on about 7am and Craig shuts it off before he goes to bed which is around midnight or so...so the dubia's are going roughly 7-8 hours without heat (of course they are in my living room, so it's still warm)

but is this OK? or do they absolutely need the constant heat 24/7?

Brandy, I have a timer to go on at night because the room they are in is warm during the day! I do believe they do better when they are warm 24-7! I could be wrong!! Im still newer to the roach scene!! Good luck.. :wink:

That would make more sense having it on at night time since its colder at night time but Im just so paranoid that if it started a fire, I wouldnt know!

The kids sleep upstairs, the roaches are upstairs, our bedroom is down stairs, I guess thats why it freaks me out, my room is cold though so I dont think they would do well in my room....errrrrr I wish I wasnt nervous about leaving the heat pad on 24/7...others do it, right?

Yes, Right. Though I house all my roaches over the dragon's vivs the two I use megas on at least. No worries about fires, if you elevate that bin an inch above the pad
