My tanks are UV'd and lit using full length Reptiglo 10.0 fluors (upgrading to Zoomeds on next changeover, have them in lizard-cupboard ready - cost a FORTUNE!) with ceramic heating - except for Kyle's tank, as she still had her old light bulb - I've been meaning to wean her off those, as you can't get them any more.
My questions start here. The ancient rosette on Kyle's tank bask/heating finally gave up the ghost yesterday - so I quickly had to wire in a ceramic heater. I've checked the tanks over - they're all maintaining the usual hot/basking areas of 105F and cool ends of 85F in the daytime that they used to, nicely graduated across the middle (Kyle's always liked sitting either in the middle, under the heat or in her water bowl, usually one spot for several hours at a time. Days sometimes if I don't disturb her!).
My question is - do I still need to load in basking lighting? The ceramics are actually mounted over wooden swings which do a grand job of absorbing and deflecting heat - and providing the dragons with a great place to sit, swing and ... well, bask really.
Thanks for your time, any input gratefully received - I wasn't sure as it seems a bit unnec. what with the heating and UV being in place already.
(I forgot to add - I use Habistats on all of them too - I also ought to point out my RG10.0 bulbs are 12" up, because I know some people have concerns on health implications at lower heights.)
