HEAT ROCK!

So, everyone on here says heat rocks are bad? I had a leopard gecko and he was fine with a heat rock, the pet shop say the heat rock is okay and so did my vet... so what's wrong with them? It came with my exo terra vivarium, so why do they sell them if they aren't good for the lizards? Help please :(

The reason they are bad is because they can tend to overheat and cause serious burns. You cant trust them therefore its recommended not to use them.

Beardies have heat sensors on their head, not their tummy. Therefore, if it gets too hot on the rock, they won't move cuz they can't feel it.

There's LOTS of things that are sold that aren't good for them. But I'd read through some of these boards carefully before deciding to trust some packaged viv or pet store. I work at PetCo but wouldn't take advice from ANY of my co-workers regarding beardies.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
