So I have a sea grass hammock that my baby beardie loves, and in the beginning my thermometer probe was saying that a 100w wasn’t giving off enough heat it was at like 95 so I’ve had him at 150w for a couple weeks with it satiating at 110-112 which I thought was perfect. He’s been fine went through a shed but I always wondered why he stayed in the far corner away from the basking light but still on the basking side. Well today I did a thorough clean and soaked his hammocks. I bought a zoo med big plastic hammock for a replacement while his grass ones dry. My shirt is also on it for stress purposes while his original set up dries. Well this is the first time with this hammock and oh my god the heat was at 130. I freaked out and tried to raise the lamp but it only went down to 120. So I put the 100w back in and now it’s at 107. The probe was under the lamp with the sea grass hammock but I’m wondering why the huge temp deference. Was it not picking it up right? I really want to put the sea grass hammock back in but idk why it wasn’t reading right with it. Now I feel bad that I’ve been roasting him for two weeks. I’ll post pics of what I had and have currently. Can anyone tell me why I wasn’t getting good readings with the sea grass hammock.
