Heat Pad query????

Hi hope you can help

I'm new the bearded dragon scene and I've had mine 5 days. I went to my local reptile shop who basically set me up with what was missing when I got her. They told me I needed a heat pad but to put it under the viv not inside, as recommended by them. Now this thing is eating through my electricity and with them having mixed reviews I wanted to know for sure if they are recommended or not. If they are then I will gladly keep it on. Just want to know for sake of beardie and costs.

Bearded dragons receive their heat from above, so a light is much better.

Excellent. I have a UV and a basking light aswell. I did turn the pad of last night and the temperature didnt drop any lower.

heatpads can be dangerous for beardies as they don't have sensors in their belly so they can burn themselves if they get too hot. Would you be able to return it? As your new to beardies here's a great site that really helped me with food etc (if you havent seen it before):

If you cant return it use it for a dubia bin =) or sell it on here.

Thanks for your posts, I never used it in the viv incase it burnt her, its underneath as I was told the heat would still go though. It was only £15 so will just cut my losses with it.
