Heat bulb directly on the mesh?

I had to get a new heat lamp fixture today. Before it was long enough that the bulb wasn’t actually touching the screen. But with the new one the bulb is making direct contact. Is that a fire hazard? I don’t know if I feel comfortable with it. Has anyone else had this issue?

Hi there,

There should be no risk of your screen burning or melting. Potentially the plastic the holds the screen together if the bulb is close enough to it, but not the screen.

Your screen will either be made of aluminum, or fiberglass strands. Each has a melting point that will far exceed what your bulb will output.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
