I recently bought a 2 year old Dragon from a local established reptile dealer 9 days ago. He’s a little guy for his age only 16 inch but eats like a champion and doesn’t refuse anything. Mainly Collards, dandelion, carrot bell pepper, hornworms and a little strawberry. I have the 24 inch t5 reptisun 10.0 mounted inside of 40 gallon breeder because the mesh screen is unusually thick, so the light is roughly 16 inch away from his basking. It’s a Thrive 40 gallon open from front unit.
I have running a CHE lamp 24-7 because the heat lamp was only getting the temps up to 90-93 measured with infrared thermometer, and the CHE had him to 105-110. Today I had time so I decided to grab a 90 watt halogen light to see what temps I could get him and provide him with the bright white light. When I clicked the lamp on he went black bearded started breathing heavily and took a few bites at the glass. He sat for a moment staring still dark and breathing heavily.i left the room for roughy 5-10 to come back in seeing him away from his basking area clutching in the spooning position the shirt I put in there so that he has my scent that was also on the basking site.
I honestly thought he was going to die and I finally was able to get his eyes opened and he looked at me with this strange relieved recognition look. I took him out brought him to the floor and sat with him on the floor. He tried walking and I noticed his rear legs were moving but seemed limp. That lasted for about 10 minutes and now he’s back to climbing running around when he wants to.
My question is did he attack the glass and knock his own ass out or was this some sort of heart attack?
