Hey I've been reading alot on this forum for all the staples for meat. I thought Superworms will cause impaction? My guys two years old at 18" nose to tail. Every other day he'll polish off like 30 crix. So I'm just wondering Superworms? Silkworms? Aren't those dubias roaches hard for beardies to digest? Glenn's always got salad in his viv and usually eats a good bowl full a day. I just wanna know what would keep the longest! Because if i bought a tub from http://canadiansilkworms.com/catalog/index.php i just wanted to know how long i've got? should i also feed glenn with crix aswell? I just don't wanna keep crix in the house and am looking for something a little easier to maintain. has anyone had experience with http://canadiansilkworms.com/catalog/index.php ???

Thanks in advance :)

Dudbia are in fact one of the best feeders you can get, you feed nymphs which are nice, soft and chewy. Supers are o.k. for dragons longer than 16 inches, less than 16 inches and the kink in their digestive tract could cause impaction.

I feed dubia and lobster roaches, Spike loves em! Dubia are really clean and easy to care for. I've not used silks, but have read other people love them. I don't know how long they last, sorry.

I agree with Eric about the Dubia, I don’t use any lobster but I add in one or some times two days of supers. I have had slikies before and they where very hard to breed and hard to keep alive but this is just me I have herd others say they are easy to care for…
Good luck

At 18 inches long he can handle pretty much any staple feeder bug out there without a problem - superworms, silkworms, hornworms, roaches.

I haven't tried roaches because i'm also in canada and they're hard to get here, so I use supers. They're very easy to keep and live forever it seems like. They're also reletively easy to breed yourself as long as you're not in a hurry.

I've dealt with canadian silk worms and there service was decent. http://www.canadianfeeders.com is another Ontario supplier and I've never had any problems with them.

As a side note, since your guy is an adult you'll need to keep an eye on how much live food he's getting - too much protein and fat (i.e. bugs) in an adult diet can lead to fatty liver disease. The general recommendation is 25-50 bugs a week (25-30 if you're using supers, 50 if you're dealing with crickets) - the majority of an adult dragon's diet is salad and veggies.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
