Healthy Herp Instant Meals?

I searched and didn't find anything... I recently got a couple of issues of 'Reptiles' Magazine, and one of the advertisements in it were for 'Healthy Herp Instant Meals'. I got interested and looked up where to buy them (just out of curiousity and so that others could see what I mean).

They have a special formula for BD's and it apparently is pre-dusted and everything. They even sell special bowls that the instant meals sit into.

Also, quick question on freeze dried foods... Are they ok/good/fine? I mean one could use one of those vibrating dishes (I saw in another thread that apparently some dragons are scared of those lol ) but would it be a good way to do it? That way I wouldn't have to worry about 'chirp chirp chirp' or ordering phoenix worms (which is what I'm thinking about getting if I go with live food).

Anyway, just thought some of you might want to see those instant meals... Seems weird, a possible good idea (for folks with not so much time) and perhaps use it as 'one a day' or so. I dunno. :)

I have never used them! But as I always say fresh is best!! If you use it let us no how your beardie likes it! Also some beardies freak out with those dishes! Good luck... :D

I think I will try the instant meal thing. Thinking about it, it'd be pretty nice for someone going out of town. All you'd have to tell your dragon-sitter is 'follow the directions on the cup and put it in the tank' and that'd be that.

Silly quick question: How often do you guys feed your dragons? I'm getting mixed messages over the internet/books/magazines

People feed them different! As babies they need more protein. So as babies and juveniles I feed live feeders 2 times a day as much as they will eat in a 10-15 minute period plus a healthy salad all day long! My adults get live feeders in the morning and a healthy salad all day long and the occasional treat. A super worm or 2 or 3..

I saw those at Petsmart the other day! I almost bought one to try it out on Zeus (he will eat anything, freeze dried or not). The price was really stupid though, it was like $2.50 for one serving! The ingredients are pretty good though, lots of healthy veggies, I'm not quite sure about mealworms though as those can be dangerous. It looks like there are only a few in there though. It would be really convenient for a beardy sitter though.

Yeah, they're only like .99 on that pet place (great site btw, I used it when I had fish. Really quick and nice people. Great deals most of the time) but it sucks that they're so high at petsmart. I dunno, I think it'd be a nice aid for those out of town without the dragon trips. Tell the sitter to just follow the directions on the pack and your done. Sounds like a lot less stress lol

I don't think my girls will eat that as we have to hand feed any greens they eat. Even to waiting until they gape sometimes. However, don't forget to include the cost of shipping into what you pay for them. It may cost just as much or more than paying $2.50 at petsmart, plus you have to wait. I'm not big fan of petsmart but sometimes it's not worth shopping online unless you purchase a lot of stuff, shipping takes up a lot.

The thing that concerns me about food that is prepared by someone else is I would wonder about if the bugs had been properly fed. We feed the feeders good food so they will be better for the beardies, but if they are dead already what were they eating? I know it probably sounds silly, to me this type of food would be the equivalent of eating a frozen dinner of fast food for us. It wouldn't be awful but not as tasty or as healthy as eating something freshly prepared.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
