He licks everything!

I have a Jr. beardy, he's probably just a few months old and whenever he walks around places anywhere but his cage, he licks things. He licks at almost everything. I think he's just trying to see what that thing is before he touches it, he touches with his tongue first. He might be looking for water or food but i'm not sure..does anybody know why they do this?

That is just how they sense things. Babies do this A LOT, whereas older beardies do it a bit less but my girl still seems to take a couple steps and then lick (she's almost 2).

I think they just do it to sense what things are. I have one that licks everything, all the time, and one that licks sometimes, and 2 that rarely ever lick.

mine does this, hes just under a year old. He will run up to somthing on my desk and lick it. A few days ago he was running around my couch and ran up to my sleeping cat and licked his face. The cat looked up at him freaked out and walked away lol (hes a good kittie)

Well thanks everybody haha. I've had Beardy for about 3 months now and he's doing awesome. Loves crickets! He has always licked everything. I guess he is just sensing stuff. I almost know everything about dragons now, I'm a good owner.

Haha, don't get cocky though. There's always something new to learn.

My dragon licks everything too. If I have him out of his cage, he usually licks something twice before he moves on to something else...
