He's about a month and half. All his tank stuff is set up properly.

I fed him a couple meal worms for the first time yesterday. He ate crickets like normal too.

When I tried to feed him this morning. He was really uninterested. He's also just been standing in 1 spot for the last 2 or so hours. He just threw up some meal worms and a cricket. :x

I fed him last night maybe.. 2 hours before lights off. He doesn't have a night time heat source. The tank usually stays above 60 degrees.

Hi there....yes, the mealworms are what did it. He should be fine, probably won't eat for a day or two. Give him some extra water [ bath or eyedropper or syringe ] and he should be back to normal soon. Be sure the crickets are no longer than the space between his eyes.

Good to hear, had me kind of worried. I'll definitely give him a nice warm bath today and tomorrow :)

Umm.. have you actually reviewed your set up on here? A lot of people say "it's right" but are going by what a pet store said. Also, don't feed mealworms for any reason to a baby, and even as an adult they should only be used as a RARE treat. They're hard to digest, low in nutritional value, and can cause impactions.

Yeah, did all my research through this website before even buying my Beardie. Well aware of how dumb pet stores can be.

He also just took a big ol poopie. So the meal worms must have just gave him an upset stomach :(

I could've sworn I saw people on here saying they just got their dragon some crickets and meal worms.

I'm obviously still learning but I know for sure the tank is set up right. With as much as everybody talks about the tank set up on here it's kind of hard to not get right :p

Yes, unfortunatley, alot of people will post about feeding mealworms, usually in a thread wondering why their dragon is impacted. There is just as much information on here about not feeding mealworms as there is about proper set up.

Mealworms are usually a problem for babies, but larger dragons don't have a problem with them unless they eat a ton of them [ as they will ] and the temps are too low. Mealworms aren't as evil as made out to be, if you Google a random nutrition chart on mealworms, they do have some nutritional value [ about 20 - 30 % protein ] and are very easy to keep. I have kept them on hand for emergencies and had a colony going for 5 years at one time. When I say emergency, I mean as in when storms and/or cold weather keep your bug shipments from arriving. They will thrive in a plastic container with oatmeal or oatbran, carrot piece and a leaf of collard, turnip, mustard green and they will multiply. So it's correct that they shouldn't be used as a staple or for small baby dragons [ unless the mealie is fresh shed and very soft ] but dragons over 10 inches or so can have a few as a treat, as a very small part of their diet , and for emergency when no other insects are available.

Well, I just listed why, they are easy to keep and breed, they actually do have some nutritional value, unlike the claims that they have no nutritional value and most healthy reptiles can eat them. They are not for babies, but can be a small part of a beardi's diet and come in handy if a person does not have access to feeders for some reason. Saying that they are worthless as a feeder is just something that got started and passed around and accepted as non negotiable truth when in reality many breeders + owners use them at times. I can see why there should be a caution about feeding them, as this thread is about the o.p.'s beardie throwing up but I've had a beardie throw up waxworms the first time I fed them [ about 15 years ago ] and there are occasional threads about beardies throwing up crickets, too.

I dont agree with the statement that they have no nutritional value either. They are a very accepted feeder for some other reptiles, thats true. And to occasionally feed as a treat to adult beardies I am sure is fine too. And yes, if allowed to gorge on feeders,,,I think just about any of them could cause a beardie to throw up. There are other feeders that are easy to keep and raise also. I think the whole point here is that he was feeding them to a baby dragon, which, everyone knows you should not do.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
