Hello Everyone:) I am having a dilema I would like help with. The situation is, is that my BF's sister has a dragon that we have been caring for for the last half a year. She is suppose to take him back between May and Aug. Well we don't think he will be getting the care he needs with her, good enough care but not the best b/c of the work and attention they need. I will be starting school in September full time and I already have a lovely beardie of my own. The dilema is should I adopt Blaze? The work of having 2 beardies, the cost isnt an issue b/c my BF's mother will take care of that. My BF is going away for school starting Aug or else he would just keep Blaze. Now that I will be working part time and going to school full time. I just want to know how time consuming it will be to have 2 bearded dragons. I know a lot of people out there have more than one but are they stay at home moms or is it easy to care for 2? I know Puff is a lot of work right now but he is a baby so having 2 as adults, it shouldnt be too bad right? I just want to be able to give equal love. I will have no support in helping me with them. So everyone what are your thoughts!?!?! :?: :?: :? :?

I have 4 beardies, 1 iguana, 1 water dragon, 2 frilled dragons and 1 uromastyx--between feeding, bathing, cleaning enclosures and giving love, it's a LOT of work but that's 9 not 2. When I only had 2, it was time consuming but not near as much. I think going to school and working part time with 2 dragons is manageable, it really just depends on the amount of time you're willing to spend and effort you're willing to give.

2 beardies is twice as much to love as just one beardie. I have 2 beardies and I love them both and they are not hard to take care of. If I can take care of 2 beardies anyone can trust me on that.

What's the alternative if you can't care for his dragon? I say try it out. If you can manage, then congrats. If not, revert to the alternative option.

Well, as someone who just got a second beardie, I say go for it! I don't find it much for difficult...

We have lots of beardies... two whole spare bedrooms devoted just to them. I started with a little rescue baby, fell in love... the kids fell in love... the whole family got involved. Now we have multiple dragons and never refuse another rescue if its in need. I enjoy caring for them... its a stress-reliever for me... but I do have my family to help out when I'm working. And I do work a lot of hours. I also have a dragon sitter who comes in to care for all of them when we go away. Each dragon gets out of its tank daily... gets held and cuddled, and allowed to roam around a room or two. All are on a bath schedule. It sounds like a lot of work but to me its not. I love them and get a great deal of satisfaction nurturing them and caring for them. I spend a lot on crickets, phoenix worms, superworms, and waxworms... not to mention reptisun bulbs, cages, and all the other necessary supplies... but to me its all worth it and I luckily can afford all the items they need. At least their greens and salad ingredients aren't expensive (though I make a grocery store run every 3-4 days to always have fresh veggies available). I am a bona-fide beardie slave.

If you are able to take the time during the day to love them both; feed them, make sure they have enough water & salad. Do you have period of time daily to take care of them? And as previously mentioned what would be the alternative. If your supplies are taken care of, it's just a matter of what time you have daily. I say go for it; I'm one to talk, we have 5 beardies, a golden gecko and a Columbian black & white tegu. My husband is retired so spends alot of time with each of them and I work from noon to 8p, so have all morning with them, I give all the baths. It will be your decision, but how can you not? Good luck with your decision. Beardies are alot of work, but more so as babies, not so much as adults. They still have to have cuddle time every day. Let us know what you decide. :D

I think you can manage two. Since the food is, and will be taken care of,I think you should be ok. I work nights and sleep a few hours a day. I have two beardies myself and a 4 yr old boy.A few minutes a day to handle, feed and bathe should be do-able.

hey, I have 3.
I don't find it much more time consuming than one was, because everything you do for them, you were already going to do in th first place... you might just have to cut up twice as much salad, etc.
You kinda get into a routine with them and it's not hard at all. for me anyway.

We have 4 its not to bad. 2 is a snap :D I try to do everything i can to take care of many things all at once.. salad , cricks, baths. I bathe one in one sink and another one in the other side. I also prechop veggies for future feedings if i have the extra time.

Thanks everyone for your responses! You definitely made my decision, I will be adopting Blaze:) The alternative would be to give it to my BF's sister and I am not fond of that idea. Especially b/c she is already willing to give it 2 me clearly not wanting him. I could never give Puff up. I was just mainly worried about not being able to give as much love. Blaze would eat Puff in a second if they were ever brought together. She just saw him and she flew at the glass of her tank and smashed her head into it. So you know having separate love time. But I will get into a routine. Puff can chill with me when I do my homework and Blaze (is more of a bitch, she has had a rough life) doesn't like being out of her tank for long periods. Bathing, feeding etc will just be done in doubles :) It will work out! Thanks to everyone for your responses, it will be a breeze :):) :blob8: :blob5:

One more question: What is everyones electric bill like? How much do the dragons add to the cost?

Good decision. You'll be juggling beardies, but that's alot of fun, too. You just take time in between and cuddle them as much as possible. The rest of the time, if they're happy in their tanks and can't see each other, they'll be fine. I'm glad you'll have both, and Blaze will settle down once she realizes you're there for her, being the good beardie slave that you are :D :blob5: :blob8: :blob5:

Well, we have LOTS of dragons (20+), so our electric bill did jump up a bit. I mostly use reptisun 10.0 tubes... though two of the dragons have MVB's. I use standard bright white light bulbs for basking bulbs. But with only two dragons, I think the increase in electricity cost would be insignificant. Good luck with your new beardie!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
