Hasn't dropped "poo" in days! worried!

Ok, so i posted earlier this week that my beardie was having a very black bear most of the day.

Today i was cleaning his tank like i do everyday, and noticed that he hasn't pooped. Thinking to myself i remembered that the 2days before he had not either after eating a healthy load of crickets and meal worms.

My mother pulled some "motherly instics" and told me hes not feeling good, and thinking about his poo problem, my guess is that it's backed up.

should i be worried? do they not poo everyday?

Also he seems to be very very friendly...when i usually put him on my lap/desk he runs off and tried to jump the grand canyon (dive off my lap or desk, and usually i have to catch him before he does cuz he doesnt even look he just thinks he can fly).

But now when i lay him on my lap instead or running, he gets closer to me...wiggles his body a bit and gets himself comfortable on my shirt and closes his eyes a little as if he was really tired.

He has all his lights working and his tank is at a solid temp , his body if never a color other then his natural tan/orange.

give him alittle applesauce with a drop of extra virgin olive oil. he may not like the taste but itll get him to poop.

just smear some on his nose and he'll lick it up.

should i mixx it together in a small cup or just put a little and pour a very small drop of oil on it? (before i put the applesauce on his nose of course).

hi, just mix the drop of oil into the dab of applsauce in a spoon or on a small dish then put the mixture on his nose. all he needs is a couple licks and that should get him regular again. dont give him too much, if he seems to like it then give him alittle more applesauce without the oil.

also a quick, Q...someone i spoke to out of these forums told me they can eat peas...but i don't know wich kind or if they even can.


Could anyone, please tell me what kind of fruits/veggies he can eat.

How old is he? I just went through an impaction with a baby I rescued and took the advice of everyone here along with the impaction article and the link to reptile rooms article. It took 3 days for him to start pooping and he lost a lot of weight. Also give lots of water with a dropper or syringe, I watered it down with gatorade. Keep him warm at night if you can. I filled a sock with rice and microwaved it, and made sure the temps were 97. I did applesauce and olive oil. About 3 drops is what was recommended. He probably won't want to eat much for a week afterwards so get some butternut squash and chicken baby food to have on hand. And lots of baths in very warm water, warm enough so they don't notice when you put them in it, around 95 degrees. And when he is soaking you can gently rub his belly downwards from his chest to vent. Sorry if I sound like I'm getting carried away here. I'm really worried for you and it seems to get worse before it gets better. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

@ seadooz : he is about 1 year old almost exactly.
-I tried the Applesauce and Oil, and when i gave it to him he licked it for about 20secs then began backing up from my hand as if i was scaring him, he backed up for 10-15 more secs after i took my hand out of the tank then he stopped.

You can also use canned pumpkin instead of applesauce. I don't think they like the oil but you gotta try, thats why most people mix it in. I even found babyfood that was applesauce mixed with butternut squash. Before I got it I was giving the watered down gatorade as often as possible. To be honest, I was trying everything.

Is his beard still black? How bout the rest of his body? Does he have any appetite? Is he sleeping a lot or acting normal? He isn't on loose substrate is he?

Try feeling his belly, more on the left side, is there any hard or noticable lumps?

If he is acting lethargic and not eating, you probably have an issue, and it might take 2 or 3 days to get it to pass.

If he doesn't like the bath, get it as warm as him and just put his but in so his vent is submerged. It's not gonna hurt him to not eat for a couple of days. Give him pedialyte or watered down gatorade with a dropper as often as possible, like 3 or 4 times daily, and keep his belly warm. It will help him metabolize anything in there better. I might be repeating myself but anyway. Get some squash and chicken baby food. Or if you can also pick up some repti-aid. You can try to give him some of the squash baby food or repti-aid, very watered down until he poops. Once he does it will be a at least a week before he'll even want anything solid. Afterwards you work your way from the veggie babyfood to the chicken.

The first couple days I couldn't get him to lick so I stuck it between his lips to get a taste, when he started licking, I kept the dops coming. He liked the orange-strawberry gatorade.

I would only give it a day or two and if it seems to get worse you'll have to see a vet. Impactions can be fatal, especially if its sand or something in there. If its food, it will probably come out eventually. Keep us informed though.

Ok, first off thank you all...i feel as if i dialed 911 and they squeezed through the phone to help me!

I gave him the oil and applsauce and im waiting to see wut happends...I did notice tho when he stuck his tounge out to lick, that he had a bump on the left side of his tounge (if im looking at him, face to face).

I dunno if this is normal or wut but i thought i would mention it.


He seems to be acting very normal, and i bealive i found out why his beard was black!!!


A friend told me, his beard will be black for a period of time when hes "hott!" or looking for a mate. So i decided to keep a close eye on him...and while he did have it several times today it took me a while to realize that he has been running to the exact same side of the tank to do it, and i came to notice he was looking at his own reflection in the glass and he was trying to "flirt" or w/e u call it with the reflected dragon!

When hes not in that side of the tank his beard is as beautiful as ever, clear tan and orange and looking at me with a smile!

---------------------------------at this point he hasnt "pooped" yet however.

I have a new question for you guys however, every say 1-2 months i have caught him doing something wich litterally threw my heart to the ground! I saw him popping his eyes out (while his eyelids were closed however) a bit. then releasing them and opening them back to there normal position.

He hasnt done this in about a month and has only done this 2-3 times in the 1 year that i've owned him.

Sorry if I over reacted, if he was seriously impacted you would have a problem. Now you have me smiling! Thats funny and adorable. It sounds like you worship him as I do mine. I've heard of them not going for a couple of days, you might get a very large present today.

I don't know about the bump. I know the end of their toungue is weirdish looking anyway.
