Will need a lot of perseverance and patience to get him to calm down I expect.
Perhaps it's just that he feels very insecure when you approach and open the enclosure and is very territorial of his only safe place (his enclosure). I've heard of someone who had very aggressive beardie like you describe and they tried the desensitising tact (spending a lot of time sitting near the enclosure and talking quietly and calmly to the "beast" , and refrained from handling it for several weeks (only handling to clean the enclosure and only opening the enclosure to feed it). That beastly beardie eventually settled down and eventually was willing to approach the new owner (just one person initially) on it's own terms and was soon happy and gentle.
So all is not lost.
