My beardie is about 18 inches, she/he is in a 40 gallon exo terra with a basking temperature of around 100. Her cool side is between 75-80. She has tile for substrate and is given kale, pretty pets juv. iguana food, and full size crickets. I use a normal light bulb for light and warmth, plus a basking light and a MVB from powersun UV. She was treated for coccidia and pinworms earlier this year but I wasn't able to afford another vet visit since then. She also got a check up back in November I believe.
I worry because despite giving her a warm bath every other day, she hardly poops. I have for the past couple of weeks not been giving her enough bugs because of car troubles and such but that is going to be fine now. I haven't kept as varied of diet as I should, usually I stick with kale and chard for her veggies plus the pellets. I have also tried some apple sauce for when she won't poop but she doesn't seem interested. Occasionally I get her wax worms, but my vet said it should be rare since they contain a lot of fat. She still has a lot of energy, but I worry about her having stress marks all the time.
My vet (who is a reptile expert) doesn't like using calcium powder because it is easy to overdose. I have been confused about this because I have also heard that some calcium powders are also safer than others. I make sure to give her a calcium rich diet (the crickets are fed a special food to increase their calcium) and when I am very uncertain I sprinkle her food with Fluker's calcium with D3. I am starting to wonder if this is one of the none safe ones?
When she does poop, her poop is normal. Occasionally it will be not normal and spread all over the place. I always worry when that happens and I giver her a bath right away and clean everything up. Usually she will go right back to pooping normally after that. If she doesn't poop for a couple of days or so, then she poops a lot more when she does.
She also is not basking as much.
I have been trying to read up on Reptivite? Please help me. If there is anything else I can do? I worry about parasites again as well.
