Hey guys....

so my poor baby has hard hard urrates for a while now and usually when he has them they pass fine and then after that his poop is normal for a little while and ... it used to happen like once a month and they were small urrates so i did my best to make sure he gets as water as i can give him he has a water dish in his tank and ive started sprayhim him every second day just on his vent in between baths i try to baith him once a week at least but sometimes i miss a week and then i double up in the next week. he is on repticarpet supstrate had him on slate before but he developed a pressure injury from that so i have to find something softer.

his temps are normal uvb doesnt need to be changed for another month or so

but anyways

lately his urrates have been getting bigger and bigger and he's having a harder time going poo and im worried of him prolapsing ( i think thats what its called when they poop out part of their insides ) a couple of times i've noticed his vent area be a little puffy after he poops i'll rub it gently with a clean fnger and it goes down ( idk if thats what i'm suposed to do but thats my responce )

he was on a freeze dried food by zilla for a litle while i thought hed like the change but he never realy ate much of it even when i put worms in it..

he usualy gets

super worms ( one to two times a week)
waxworms ( same days as super worms)

pheonix worms ( everyday)

collard greens
Endive ( NOT BELGAN)
sometimes dandelion greens when i can get them
and recently green leaf lettuce.

i feel like i'm doing everything wrong and my poor guy is going to have a medical emergancy but i dont know what else to do or what else i could do to help him out.

please anytips will help

thanks

Hi there.....try some water using a syringe or eyedropper. Add a bit of real fruit juice [ very little ] or a bit of raw honey [ add warm water for the honey to soften it ] but mostly water. When you soak him, drip water on his snout. Spraying his vent area will not do a thing, they don't have a vacuum attached to their rear end to suck up moisture. :)

that's a really good idea (considering i have one from when he was on antibiotics i think lol i hope so ) so do that instead of spraying him ?

and i know the absorb moistier from their vents to i figured that would help but i guess your right

he does drink lots of water so its not a matter of him not drinking its more that he seems to get dehydrated really really fast and i'm not sure why

and then the serynge do i give him his water like i did wehn i gave him his anti bitoics or just drip it on his nose ?

thanks for the quick responce watchig him struggle with his poop today made me feel like a horrible dragon owner :(

You're welcome. :) You can drip the water on his nose, even using a spray bottle to give a bit more all at once [ just his face.....spray, stop, repeat ] using a direct gentle stream, not a wide mist. If he took his antibiotics easily, then you can give him water that way. Increase the baths to every 3-4 days to give him a chance to drink....they don't really absorb any real amount through their vent to hydrate themselves but can get a good drink.

Oh, and what kind of pressure injury did he develop from being on slate ? Can you post a few pics ? Here's how :

I will I don't have any recent ones but I will take some when I get home I've actually been considering going to see the vet again soon just to check on it it's looking a little red lately but no swelling so I'm unsure of what to do cuz vet bills are costly :) thanks

It appears I don't have the suringe anymore but I'll check the store for them after work as well I'm thinking they should have some for babies I could use (not to put the water in his mouth of course they'd be too big but at least on his nose

I'm hoping I did this right lol the picture looks worse than it actually does and as I said he vet said that it would take time to heal over and Calais .... he just keeps glass dancing and then rubs off the skin that grows over it and it's frustrating ... I'm tempted to see her again soon cuz of the redness bUt let me know you opinion

Get some raw honey, unpasteurized like from a health food store , beekeeper or the all natural section of a grocery store. If it's raw it works as a natural antimicrobial. Use a Q-tip to put a dab on there and then a band aid. Check it + change it every 3 days and it should heal up for you . Just be sure there are no loose insects [ especially crickets ] in the tank that would then go after the honey + the wound.

Thanks I avoid feeding crickets cuz they get lose in my house he gets peoonix worms instead for his staple protein their high in calcium wich is a bonus but I will grab some honey and do the bandaid thing I just wasn't sure if I could put a bandaid on it lol but I'll deffinately give it a try on a day I'm home all day so that I can make sure he himself doesn't try to eat it off :)

I haven't had time to find un pasteurized honey but I know poly sporin is okay to use on them as far as I've known had to use three of the smaller bandaid to make sure it seals all the way from dirt and such how often should I change it daily ??

Thanks for the help

I would have waited for the honey on Tuesday when I have the day free to look at the stores near me bUT he was glass dancing today aparently and opened it up even more so I figured the poly would do for now

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
