To make a long story short, a dog chased my beardie while he was sunning outside. I could not catch neither my beardie or the dog before he got caught by the dog. The dog dropped him, I tried to pick him up but he was so trerrified he extended his beard and hissed. Luckily, he ran into a glass jar and I was able to bring him back in via the jar he was in. It took him about 10 min to come out of the jar. When he did, I went to stroke his back and he was very jumpy and extended his beard. I was able to calm him some by talking to him, and petted him some but didn't push it. I didn't want to stress him out more. Should I continue to try to pet him or leave him alone for a few days? This is him after the incident.

Poor dragon, good thing he didn't get seriously injured. Probably leave him alone for the most part with normal cage maintenance for now. He should be O.K after a few days or so.

I certainly hope he will. I feel terrible that I let this happen to my baby :( . Lesson learned! No more going outside without a leash.

I take it, it was not your dog?
This could have ended very badly but, fortunately it ended somewhat well! This is why we have leash laws!

There are no leash laws where I live, lol. I live in the sticks in south Arkansas. People dump dogs down my road often. I have taken in many over the years. Just your regular animal lover here. And yes it was my dog, but she has never done that before and is acclimated with my beardie, as I have taken him out often. I don't know what got in to her ( the dog). Needless to say, I learned my lesson big time. Thankfully Denathor is ok and he has already forgiven me. I cuddled with him just a while ago.

Count yourself lucky .... this could have ended very badly for your beardie.

Since your dog is the culprit, I've never let the two near eat other again as your beardie will remember it's encounter.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
