Handling and Bathing

Hey there, so ive had Thor almost a week now. Im guessing he is about 1 1/2 - 2 months old, roughly 6" nose to tail. I can pick him up sometimes but most of the time he tries to fight it and either jumps out of my hand or just looks a little freaked out. I hand feed him dandelion leaves and other greens sometimes and drop his crickets in the same bowl his greens go in so hes getting used to that. I was gonna try to bath him first time today but after picking him up and him jumping out of my hand a couple times i thought forget it, dont want him to jump when hes not in his viv and run away or get hurt. So i sprayed him down, he didnt like that a whole lot either. Now hes laying on his basking rocks, lookin a little pissed off lol :roll:

Question is.. What have you guys done with your babies to make them more comfortable while being held and pet? What age did you start bathing them? Any other input would be great! Thanks

It varies with each beardie for how long it takes them to get used to you. They also go through relocation stress so he could be a little edgy because of that.
One suggestion I have is put a dirty t-shirt, or what ever in his viv. He will get used to your smell quickly and he will associate your smell with safety.

hm thats a good idea, maybe some dirty socks? haha Ill see what i can find to put in.
Yeah i can see he is getting more comfortable daily though, just takes time
