Handling a sleepy beardie

Hi i recently posted on here about getting used to my dragon.
I am wanting to know if me handling my dragon at night when he is bedding down to sleep will be easier for us both.
He jumps back and black beards me when i try and stroke him or get him out which makes me nervous, i dont want to scare the little man and also dont want to him to bite me through fear!
I have put my hand in today and he backed off. He is shedding abit on his face also.
So im thinking if i try and pick him up when he is sleepy it might make our bonding easier for us both.
He is 2 years old so an adult and i have had him since sunday

i know with some dragons they do get scared and puff! maybe it is a good idea to pick him up when he is waking up! give the dragons some kisses and hugs and more kisses
or yeah, when they are getting sleepy, they want to sleep. you can hold them

Holding them while they sleep is often what I recommend for bonding. A sleepy dragon sleeps pretty hard, so they're not likely to put up a fight or puff. Be careful not to startle them when retrieving them from the enclosure, and of course handle them like a sleepy dragon - slowly and carefully so they don't wake and flail.
