handing issues

First thing is that normally i take a bit longer than normal to gain animals trust, purely my fault but i get nervous whenever i have a pet i haven't had before such as a beardie. I have been picking him up the last few days without any issues but today i wanted to clean him out and went to pick him up and he will not let me take him out of the cage, whenever i scoop my hand to pick up him he kicks away, he isn't scared of me and he lets me try and and he will continue to kick away. I know i should be dominant and not let him win but its hard when he is wriggling and scratching to keep a hold of him! ANY help is appreciated

put his terrarium where you are constantly passing by (a high-traffic area of your home) and continue to just let him get used to you. Hold hime right before or after lights-out, where he will be more tired. I have also heard something about putting an old t-shirt so they are used to your smell, not sure if that one works. Babies are naturally skittish and should become easier to handle as he gets older.
