Thanks all!

I have been feeding Dewi with a syringe - baby food with supplements mixed in.

She has also been having antibiotics.

Moved her D3 tube underneath the mesh...

I had a slight mishap doing this as I had to modify the viv top - resulting in me breaking both her basking bulb and its backup!

I ended up having to put a 100W red nocturnal bulb in just to keep up the heat for around 30 hours until I could sort that out....she wasn't best pleased.

Now she is sat under her new daylight basking bulb....

She ate a cricket two days ago...yey!

Then 10 crickets yesterday! yey yey

And now she seems to be prowling around...got her some worms for a treat and the fat will do her no harm...they went down in minutes, and she is back on the veg...

Yey yey yey!!!

Her beard is glowing orange again and her eyes are bright and I can tell she is back in the land of the living as she is giving serious ATTITUDE!

Hello,

That is great news she is doing better today.
So, Dewi is enjoying her baby food. How much longer will she have on the antibiotics? That is good you have also included the probiotics, as well right now while she is on her meds.
That is good you were able to move the UVB bulb underneath of the mesh so she can get better exposure that way.
I am happy she is eating though, she must be feeling better then!

I now appear to have a Beardie that just LOVES eating again!

I am convinced the problem was due to lighting (the gauze between her Arcadia D3 and her viv).

I think her lack of appetite grew so slowly that it was hardly discernable. I think this took several months and therefore was difficult to spot...especially as it started in winter so I sort of expected her to slow down somewhat. Looking back now, I don't think she did brumate...I think she was just getting very slowly ill. As she had no real signs of illness for so many weeks, I kind of got used to the fact that she didn't want to hunt, didn't eat a great deal..and didn't move around much. She looked fine otherwise.

Now she is RAVENOUS again...I remember how she USED to eat and LOVE to eat.

I believe the seizure was due to calcium deficiency due to the lack of eating over a long period and the lack of D3 light.

Now, when she spots the shaker baggie full of crix, she practically throws herself at the viv door...GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!.

She just looks Sooo much better and alert....she's back to banging on the door (she actually now goes to the locking mechanism in the centre of the doors and puts her "hand" on it as if trying to turn it from inside :D ) so she can come out and sit on her cushion on the arm of the sofa and watch TV for a while. She thinks she's the "Boss" again.

She's putting weight back on and looks happier and more comfortable than ever. I think she may actually have begun to "like" me again. :D She enjoys a face rub...I rub the side of her head with my finger (much as I do with the dogs earholes) and she likes to push against it to get a good 'ole scratch.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Anyone who has bought a pre-made viv with a gauze top....get the lights underneath it!!!

Hello Luth,

That is awesome news to hear she has improved that much for you! :blob5:
I completely agree & think it was due to improper calcium absorption & little to no UVB exposure because of the mesh in between her & the light.
So, she is all back to normal for the most part now, & eating a lot? I am happy you made the changes so quickly for her & that she is making a full recovery now!
She must be feeling so much better now!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
