Guessing my beardies age

I have a question?!? How can someone guess the age of a beardie?? Chrono is a good 9 inches and about 30 grams as of last Saturday. I got him late January when he was roughly 7 inches or so. And the person I got him from has a pic in early January where Chrono is only about 4 to 6 inches long(hard to tell from the pic). But neither one of us know his hatch date. So I was hoping someone could help me guess his age? I made a ticker for my sig putting him at about 2 1/2 months old but not sure if thats very accurate. Please help! Thanks!

I would guesstimate closer to 3.5-4 months of age. Now we are in March may be heading to 4.5-5. Sooo... 3.5-5 months is best guess. :wink:

Its hard to guess beardies ages on size. Growth can be stunted due to poor husbandry. Also depending on what it was being fed, if theres not enough protein in the diet, then growth can be stunted.

Chrono is basically the exact size of my Ollie, and his hatch date was 12/16/10. So by going off of size, and assuming that the care has been the same, id guess chrono was born around the same time. Making him 2 1/2 months old.

Only a geuss tho, all beardies grow at different rates.

Always a guess hence my "guesstimate". Most reptile vendors will not sell dragon under 1.5 months old though, just something to add in there. The rule actually used to be 2 months but, I think since the economy the way it is breeders are selling their clutches to the vendors earlier. Which is why you might find baby dragons being sold at around 5 inches long.

Thats true, but also assuming a reputable breeder. We all know dragons sold at large petstores are pretty much hatchlings.

ah man..so telling his age without his hatch date is almost impossible then? Let see, i've had him since jan 21st. And the guy i got him from had him since late Dec. to early Jan not sure which. So at the very least he might have been hatched somewhere between early Dec and mid nov?
