Grouting tile question

Hello all,

Been away for a long time but I have a problem. I'm replacing Slevin's enclosures slate tile with ceramic tile and I'm not sure how to go about grouting it in. The enclosure is a maple color laminated Custom Cages 4x2x2. The tile is a smaller type that comes on a sheet so it seems easy to install, just lay it down and grout over it. I've never grouted tile myself but I have others that know how. My question is, should I put something underneath the tile before grouting? Reasons I'm thinking of are the grout not sticking to the laminated wood and not knowing if I will actually want it in there forever. Should I include something on the floor to provide some way to lift the whole thing out if I want to? If I'm putting something between the wood and tile, what would I want to use?

I use tile myself, and I personally didn't grout my tile in. I didn;t know if it would cause any dangerous fumes, and I didn't want to take the risk. But if someone else knows any safe grout... ?

If anything, you'd have to let the fumes burn off and air out for a few weeks or so?

There are many new lines of non-toxic grout and grout sealers out there.

However, I'm not going to grout our tiles, I like to be able to lift them out to clean them.

I laid mine down using some liquid nails - if I ever want to pull them up I can tear them out and put new floor down (or put whatever liner over them). Then I used a sanded grout and non-toxic sealant. Let it air out for a long time (5 - 7 days). I really find it much easier to clean (with a front access cage) when they're grouted in - that's just me though!
