I've done a lot of reading and research here prior to getting our BD and find the amount of information/resources here to be the best I've found. I also enjoy reading the stories of everyone's BD so I figured I'd introduce myself.

I'm a first time BD owner. Our new addition started with my 10 yr old wanting a lizard. I have to admit, I'm enjoying our lil guy much more than the kids. I've read about how awesome their personalities are, but until you experience it for yourself there is no understanding just how great beardies are. We just brought our baby home Friday. He's only about 4 in. long. He's very active and eating well. We've just begun to handle him for brief moments to get him use to us, which he seems to be doing Ok with. He also does well with hand feeding. I just love how he reacts when you talk to him. I swear it's like he can understand everything you say. Along with him we also have 2 mini-doxies, a rabbit, and fish.

I've noticed he has a lot of stress marks, which I've chalked up to him being so small and adjusting to a new home. Another thing is he seems to like to attack his reflection. Now as I type this I just watched him jump of his tree to attack his reflection. This has become his favorite past-time. Although, it's funny to watch I was wondering if that could be stressing him out a bit?

Here's a picture of him (hope this works)

Oh My! He is very cute! What did you name him? It may take a few days before he gets used to seeing his reflection and it xould cause some stress but having a new home can do that as well. When we first got Boodah, he had pretty bad stress marks for about a week and a half. He still let us hold him and he ate plenty!

What a cutie!!!!

Hi spikerocks,

We think he's pretty cute, but I think we're a bit partial. :) We haven't named him yet, so we're open to any suggestions. We wanted to get to know him first. I'm thinking Spunky or Schizo the way he darts around and attacks "himself".

I was hoping to hear the stress marks were normal for him so thanks for sharing.

We just rescued a little beardie two days ago and haven't named her yet either. We are going to hold a family vote tonight to name her!
If you click on the link in my signature, it will take you to my thread. On the very first page you will see pics of Boodah with his stress marks. They were much worse than your little one's!
Please let us know when you pick a name!!!

Spikerocks, your lil ones are adorable. I love how they "show off" their personalities in their pics.

I told the kids they have until the end of the week to come up with names. Then we'll go from there. Of course, the teenager (wisecracker that he can be) comes up with Fugly. Sad, but I have to admit it has a ring to it and it's a bit unique. My 10 yr old came up with Fuzzy so far. I've been calling him baby. Naming him should be quite interesting to say the least.

he is adorable!

what do stress marks look like? I adopted a beardie and would be good to know in case she may have some.

Curse, curse, curse! I've GOT TO STOP looking at pics of baby dragons! Mine are both close to one year old (the dragon equivalent of a teenager) and now I'm all gagga over everyone's babies! This little one is one of the cutest ever! Sadly, although the name doesn't quite match that gorgeous little face, I'm voting for Fugly! Welcome to the world of Beardie Slavery and enjoy. I'm off to bug my husband to see where we can fit in a beardie nursery...

We finally agreed on a name....drumroll........Fugly!

He's doing very well. He just finished his first shed with us and is already getting bigger. He's still not real comfortable with being handled, but he's getting there. For now we're handling him while keeping him in his viv to make him feel more comfortable.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
