Great Cricket Escape Pt Deux- Need help!

I thought that the rubbermaid tub was escape-proof. I was wrong.

I think that they're climbing up the top and through the crack between the tub and the lid. There's no hole- I double and triple-checked. How does everyone keep their feeders from escaping into the house at large? How can I stop these buggers from getting out into my room?

no...they can climb the seams....

might happen....but if it does, it is very rare.

Many tubs have enough texture to allow crickets and roaches to climb them.

I use a rubermaid tub, place a strip of clear packing tape about 12 inches from the bottom. they cant climb over the tape, this way none will escape. and keep the lid off, keeping the lid on creates too much humidity and it will smell horrible.

Done- and so far, so good. I've yet to see one of them climb up the tape. However, it seems that the problem is solved. Now to catch all of the escapees...

I use screen lids on my tanks, no escapes and no humidity problems...yes a lid on a tub can equal humidity problems here also....

I use clear 66 qt tubs for my roaches...no lid and no tape....have yet to find an escapee

back when I had my toad in a 5 gal bucket, I'd wake up with a cricket crawling on my face. The dang things climbed the bucket. Never saw one do it..but they had to be comming from somewhere. Those things can climb just about anything.

I've yet to have a cricket climb out of my clear sterilite 66 qt tubs, however, if I remove one of the pieces of egg flat and one is attached they do escape that way, but it;'s few and far between. considering roaches now though, I've had 2 batches of crix die on me after sustaining a colony for 6 months or more. tired of unexplainable die off. my first tub was a colored one and they could climb that. it sucked!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
