Hi everyone, i got this female which i rescued from a pet store some three years ago, she was in perfect condition untill a month ago ar so when she started to have trouble to poo... First i gave her warm baths and helped her to place her interiors? back inside and everything went back to normal immediately but this morning she was like you can see in the pics and i couldn´t help her. I already call my vet but he won´t be able to see her till later at night. He told me that he will have to sedate her to work better. I don´t know what this is and i´m very worried about her health. Do you know what happened here? And why? I will wait till my vet sees her but i´d like to know your opinions and if you ever experienced something like this and what have you done.
She has the right temps and humidity, eats really well crickets and dubias plus veggies, has had sunbaths all summer here and warmbaths once a week plus spraying every morning. And two fecal tests per year since she´s with me allways negative but the first time but she was quickly recovered then and nothin seemed wrong untill now

That is a prolapse.
The vet will probably do a minor surgery to repair it.

Thanks Tom! Any clue as to what may have caused it? Is impaction a possibility?

Impactaiton, straining, dehydration, it could be alot of diff things.

Thanks again Tom.

It could be a rectal prolapse caused by impaction, like if maybe she got some food that was too big ( anything bigger that the space between their eyes).
It can be serious, good thing you are seeing your vet soon.

It looks like your beardie has had a prolapse - this can happen if they are straining to poop. For now, you can mix some suger with boiled water to dissolve it then add cold water to make a cool sugar bath to soak her in. That should help to, temporarily reduce the swelling. If there is any partical substrate in her enclosure, remove it immediately as this will only hurt her more. You can then apply KY jelly to the area. You must keep the area moist until you can get her to the vet and he should be able to help her further!

I hope all goes well for her. Please let us know how she is doing!

Thanks MissT, I didn´t know about the sugar bath, i was bathing her normally in warm water but i´ll do that. What´s KY jelly? Also should i keep feeding her? i usually feed her 5/8 crickets or dubias plus veggies ( she´s an adult) but i think i should stop giving her food till she get better is that ok?

The water needs to be cooled to help with this prolapse. She really does need to go to the vet as soon as possible tho as all of these treatments are extremely temporary fixes to make her more comfortable. KY jelly is like a lubricating gel - you can find it in the pharmacy. The vet will be able to advise you further when you see him this evening.

Thanks Kellinicole, i don´t know, she´s an adult so i was feeding her 5/8 crix or dubias plus veggies, at this age i thought there would be no problem feedin her adult crix or dubias but i´ll check that out again, thanks again you people are a lot of help

Yes i know, that´s why i´m so worried, i know i can´t do anything for her. The vet is supposed to be here in two hours. I´ll do the sugar bath right now, see if she gets a lil better
Thanks again MissT

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
