The wire is the thermometer reading the basking rock temperature.

After some months of saving and researching I finally got my first Bearded Dragon. He was bought from Dachiu Bearded Dragons.

His parents: Red Citrus Tiger Translucent (Het Hypo) X Orange German Giant Leatherback (Double Het)

I want to get something to put around the walls of the tank because sometimes he thinks his reflection is another Beardie. He also does not eat as many crickets as people say young Beardies do, but I am chalking that up to him getting used to his new surroundings for now. I am keeping an eye on him to make sure though. He also barely eats his veggies but I am going to be mixing worms in with it after this weekend. My set up honestly sucks (for me, not my beardies' health). I am upgrading it as time goes on. I have a 20 gallon tank (which will be changed the next dollar per gallon petco deal) that will be upgraded once he grows a bit to his permanent adult tank which will be much bigger. I need to have the basking light lifted a bit because when I have it directly on the top it gets near 120 F on his basking rock. Now it stays at a good 109 F. I originally had only a stick on temperature reader but bought two real thermometers, one for each side of the tank.

Anyway, I hope to use this site to have some of my newbie questions answered and maybe as I get better to help newbies myself!

edit: I actually have decided I will build my own enclosure, put those construction skills to work. I will have it done by the time he is big enough for it.

Hi there ! Charmeleon looks very regal in his home. :) The set up is very good actually, really all they need is a few nice basking perches that also provide a hiding spot as well. And you're right, his appetite should pick up after he's settled in for a week or 2.

You can look for ideas to build an enclosure in the DIY and the enclosures subforums.....have fun. :)

Thanks!

He loves to sleep under his basking rock in his hiding place.

I have been checking out the diy and enclosure section, very informative!

Today the rest of his tail shed, I think his head is starting to shed because I notice white/grey scales.

His colors are so pretty!!

Thank you!

He's grown about an inch so far. He still really only eats once a day, but he does eat a lot during that one time. Plus I leave Collard Greens with two Wax Worms hidden inside the bunch of leaves and he always eats the worms plus some of the leaves.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
