UPDATE: Officially picking up my beardie tomorrow, can't wait!!!

You mount uvb inside because screen filters some of that beneficial uvb light. Think of it like you sitting inside next to your window. You are getting light and Sun is there but it will filter out some of that D unlike you standing outside.

Are there safe ways to mount the light on the inside rather than on top the screen?

I had an exo terra rainforest for my cresties and my cat would always jump on the screen. This time around I was planning on getting the Zilla fresh air top which sounds like sturdy top. Then setting 3 light domes on the top, one for each light. Do they sell options for mounting bulbs inside where the beardie can't touch it?

Walmart has under the cabinet light fixtures for about $10. I believe people here have then used those picture hanging hooks or something. If you ask the hardware person and tell them what you are doing and need it securely fastened then they should be able to help you with the proper tool for that type of fixture.
