Hello everyone, from Denver, Colorado and I recently purchased a bearded dragon from Petsmart ( I know, a terrible decision on my part ) especially since there is an upcoming reptile convention on Nov. 11th and repticon today...my question is, of course nobody knew what age they receive their dragons but she was the largest in the cage at almost 7 inches while there were definitely some babies along side her, it was said she was there a bit longer (obviously) but then the very uninformed associate responded with "im not sure how old it is but i know we don't get them any younger than 6 months" firstly i call B.S. because there were clearly 4 to 6 week old babies maybe 3 to 4 inches in length, bobble heads and tiny bodies, etc...she went onto say her educated guess was 8 months old! is this possible with my baby just barely reaching 7 inches? i confirmed she is also female. I would like to upload pictures on here...haven't figured that out just yet. Thanks!!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of bearded dragons. They are great masters (I mean pets) and you sound like you are going to make a great slave (I mean owner), lol!

You definitely have come to the right place to find the answers to your questions.

And yes, the little one is about 6 to 8 weeks old. Those so-called brainiacs at petsmart couldn't find their but with both hands. I am glad you rescued him from that torment.

I am too! although the idea of supporting the continued torment of more reptiles by enabling their breeding tactics of "hey look at me, im not getting the love and care i deserve" the cycle of bad breeding ethics lingers on :( but still, id like to think i rescued her. As my partner can attest ive become quite the little slave, i mean "owner" lol

There were a couple of pages that made interesting reading when I got my Finn (oops sorry my sons Finn lol)

She (we were told she was a he hence Finn out of starwars and my litlle one refused to change her name) was about 15" when we got her and we where told she was 8 months old. She is no 19" and would be over 1 year now if that date was right.

Very pretty dragon indeed thank you for the site's I had reviewed them prior but definitely informative it's just that PetSmart isn't too keen on their ages yesterday I went in and they had a hatchling in there so I knew that they definitely get them at a very young age and she's probably 4 months at the most in my opinion because she's only 7 inches long to include the tail. Their enclosures at this PetSmart for that age are pretty big, I would say a 15 gallon tank to 20 gallons for these hatchlings, they had decent lighting set up too, hopefully with only have been there for a month or 2 she can spring back with my care and grow to her full potential! She's a gorgeous orange fancy..surprised they had such nice dragons there.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
