Going Away - Will Dubia Be ok Alone For a Week?

I’ve been trying to figure out when I should buy my starter of dubia roaches. I’m hoping to find my next beardie in March. If I wait too long I won’t have enough smaller dubia to feed. If I order now there will be a week where I won’t be around to feed and replace the water crystals as I’m going out of town. I’m flying out first thing on 2/28 and won’t be returning until late 3/8, which could turn into 3/9 if we have any delays. Would a dubia colony be ok that long without someone replacing food and water?

They are surprisingly hardy.

Just give them a big pile of dry food, and a decent pile of water crystals and they will survive. The water crystals will likely only make it 5 days or so, but the food should last.

Good to know! Maybe once we get a warm weather break I'll place an order for a starter kit. I don't dare now as we're freezing up here! Maybe playing with some roaches will help keep me entertained until I get my beardie. Haha! Yeah... then again, maybe not...

You'd be surprised. I enjoy taking care of my roaches almost as much as my dragon. I was surprised to find how fascinated I became with them. My sig says it all. :twisted:
