Goin out of town

I am going out of town for 5 days. I was wonder what most people do with their BD when they need to go out of town? I am a lil nervous about asking someone to watch Hero. I thought about taking him to the pet store where i got him and see if I could put him in a tank there. I wish there was an automatic cricket feeder machine. ha ha. maybe I should invent one. Just wondering what others do!?

I worry about that possibility for me too. Maybe check the member map on this site and see if anyone lives near you. No one but another beardie slave would understand.

I am fortunate enough to have family members and friends that help me with that.

There have been posters on here in the past who wanted to know if it was okay to put a bunch of food in their bd's viv while they were gone for a few days.Of course, the answer to that would be no, especially if you have a baby or a juvie because they require so many feedings.

Do you have any family nearby or close friends that you would trust to take care of your bd?

You could also see if you can board him at your vet.

I took the boys with me... and I'll be traveling again in two weeks maybe and will be taking them then too most likely. However, in March I have an issue cause I can't take them on a plane. Right now I think I'm paying someone to watch them.

i know the pet stores in our area do boarding of reptiles. A vet that looks at exotics will probably board as well.
I am lucky enough to have a lady at work that does house and pet sitting.

Does anyone know how much they would charge at a vet? We go camping in the summer, and I would love to take our two, but then again, with limited room it would be very hard.

I have someone watch Blaze. Last time I left, I made little cricket cups by taking disposable cups and putting pieces of egg crate in them with a little bit of veg to eat. I covered them with press & seal wrap and poked little holes in the top. The person I had taking care of her was not comfortable with her, but all she had to do was open the cup and throw them in. I also had a baggie of chopped veg in the fridge, so all she had to do about that was throw out the old stuff and drop in some pre-chopped veg in her bowl.

I was gone for 5 days, so by the time I got back she was hungry and very dehydrated - not good. This was the only time I ever saw her drink... I no longer have this person around to watch Blaze, so I'm not sure what I will do later on..

I hired a girl that works at the vets office to come in 2x a day for my 2 cats and dragon. She charged $20 a day. You could try Craigs List. I always see pet sitters on there.

I called my local Herp vet and they charge $20/day and you have to bring everthing he needs with detailed instructions. I can't afford that right now, I will be gone for 6 days. I am going to get my sister to do it and just portion out his feedings for her so she does not have to touch anything. ha Will he be dehydrated if he gets a bath Friday morning and not another until Wed night? Can you mist them to give them some moisture?

When I go away my sister takes care of Skyler. She does a good job on the feeding and lights but dosnt clean up the poop every day :evil: Make sure she will clean the poop. A weeks worth of poop all in one tank is going to be bad! If there is any poop in the tank when i go to feed them in the morning they think that the poop is something that i put in there to eat and they try to eat it
