Gobi's Desert :)

Yesterday I brought home a cute lil' 6 inch beardie. I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure he's a boy. Anyway we had a bad run in with puke last night but in the ER forum someone thought it could be from dehydration so when I took him out this morning I tried to put water on his nose he wouldn't lick it off. So then when I was about to put him in his water bowl he dipped his little head down and started gulping up water... I'm pretty sure he was extremely thirsty :(. Then when I actually tried putting him in his bowl he wasn't having any of that so he balanced his left feet on my left hand and his right feet on my right hand and kept drinking. ;) I'm attached to him already.

Sounds like you are doing alright. Has he gone to the vet? Just for a check up. Can't wait to see pics. :D

I'm trying to schedule an appointment soon... he's a lot better today. He ate 4 crickets which I consider pretty good since he was completely uninterested yesterday. He found out that to get to the hottest point in the tank all he has to do is climb up his tree branch and jump on the thermometer ;) It was very funny. javascript:void(0); My little buddie :)

Also I have another question how are you measuring your temps? Are you using a temp gun, digital probe, or a dial? It could also be a temperature problem. The dial thermometers can be off by as much as 10 degrees in either direction.

Dial... Ya I was pretty worried about the temps too but I'm pretty sure it wasn't temperature. He was extremely thirsty and that first night just sat there but now he runs around and is a lot more energetic. So I'm thinking he's feeling better now. He just shed some more this morning too. Also it's pretty normal for them not to eat much their first few nights right?

Yes that is true. Fafnir did not easy too much until after two weeks. It is called relocation stress. I'm glad he is doing better.

Last night when I was checking on Gobe I couldnt find him anywhere! I looked for a bout 15 minutes and saw no sign of him. Finally when I was about to freak out I noticed a little tail under the dish rag I put in there. Apparently he liked the comfiness of the dish rag. :)

So far the most Gobe has eaten in one day is 13 crickets... I'm thinking that's pretty good since I've had him for one week today. :) My dad has been feeding him while I was at my mom's this weekend and thankfully i have a timer for the lights. I'm glad he's eating more now. How many times a week should I spray his crickets, and would small pheonix worms be a good choice as another feeder? Thanks for any help!

Phoenix worms are a great staple feeder. You should dust crickets with calcium once a day, 5 days a week. And then dust with a multivitamin twice a week. This is my schedule: cal: m-F vit: sat-sun. They do go through phoenix worms pretty quick. I have to restock ok phoenix worms twice a month. If you go to lindasgonebuggie.com she has good prices for reptiworms. It is the same feeder just raised a different way. Well that is what I believe.

Thanks for the info! I recently found the actual spelling of Gobi... Darn that's what I thought it was but then I changed it! ;)

Gobi was extremely hyper today! For some reason he made it his mission to escape from my hand when I was trying to get his picture. Unlike almost everyone else's beardies on here he just hates publicity!

What a charmer! Don't worry; my boy Paarthurnax hates when I get good pictures of him. I spent about thirty minutes trying to get a good shot of him gaping earlier today while basking. Gobi is definitely not alone!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
