glass surfing

I’ve Had my bearded dragon for about 4 months and he's about 9 months old. He’s 16 inches.

Recently he has been glass surfing a lot. So I put paper on the inside of 3 of the 4 walls. The other one has the door. he doesn’t seem to like it and has been scratching and partially cutting the paper. Today he tore down an entire wall. I also think that the reason for glass surfing is because he is seeing his reflection. Should I keep the paper on? And if so, for how long?

Hello,

Definitely try to put up some paper on the outside of the glass sides, if you can. That would
help so he can't tear it down. Did you double check his basking temperatures to be sure they
are optimal for him & not too hot?

I thought the entire point of putting paper up was to block his reflection. Basking temps are fine. Thanks for the replies!

i have mirrors floor to ceiling on my closet doors, i placed cardboard about 1.75 feet high in front of all the mirrors. my beardie will walk up to the cardboard and jump up, grabbing into the top and pulling her self up to see herself in the mirror. she will sit there and head bob before either sliding back down or falling forward and then you hear her crawling her self out from behind the cardboard... its quite funny at times but the lengths they will go to see themselves is quite extreme, once they know there is a reflection there its near impossible to stop them from trying to get to it.

ive noticed that over time her reaction lessoned to her own image, she still head bobs but she dosent get major stress marks nor does she charge herself anymore. took about 5 months of her seeing her reflection to get to that point tho. she will sit in the bathroom holding herself up to see into the vanity mirror and just stair at her self. dosent black beard anymore
