Glass Scratching

Can someone tell me why they scratch at their tanks continuously like they are going mad? My beardie is about 14 mos. old and I have never seen her scratch like she has been. Can she see the background paper and is trying to get on top of the boulders? does she want out? I know she is shedding, although, she has never done this. Can someone please enlighten me.

They do it for a few reasons. Some see their reflection and think it's another lizard (people put paper/backgrounds to cover this because it can stress them out), some want to be out in the house or with you, some pooped in the tank and want to escape from it/get it cleaned up, and some just want to eat. Mine does the "dubia dance" when he sees me putting his feeders into the container I use to put calcium supplements on. Do you have another beardie in view, especially a male? The females can go quite crazy in the spring when they see a male. If it's something she can see, just block her view of the other lizard or cover 3 sides of the tank to reduce seeing her reflection.

seconding everything Fuzzyviper said. my beardie mostly scratches when he sees me preparing his worms (which i keep on one side of his tank). the other time he scratches is when he wants out for his exploring the house time. he rarely bothers with his reflection though.

thanks, I do not think its a reflection thing, I have background paper on all three sides of his tank. I am beginning to think, he just wants outside. Its spring/Summer time here and all he wants to do is to sit outside with me very strange though, she has never been like that before. I thought maybe she is seeing the background paper (the rocks) and things its real and wants to climb them? I do not know if they can see that though?
