glass door tracks?

ok, Ive been looking on here and i remember seeing a thread about where to buy the tracks for glass windows...but i cant for the life of me find it. can you guys tell me where a good place is to buy them> i looked in my local home depot this last weekend and they didnt have any.

I bought a 36" section (top and bottom) from my local lumberyard. Chains like Lowes and HomeDepot don't usually stock the oddities.

yeah, I had a revelation today and realized that im a woodworker and could just as easily MAKE my own glass tracks. lol so thats what im doing...once i start building out new cages ill be sure to take pics and post them for everyone! lol

FWIW, the wood tracks I bought are made of hard maple and the grooves are tapered somewhat with a flat bottom, almost identical to a groove on a v-belt pulley (sheave).

The top set of grooves are twice the depth of the bottom groves, to allow the glass panels to be lifted up into the top groove and dropped into the bottom groove w/o becoming disengaged at the top.

I lubricate them with straight beeswax to keep the doors sliding smoothly.

AWW the bees wax thing is a GREAT idea!!!! lol well..i came up with a different way of doing the tracks. so i will see how it works. Im building the cage out of 1" thick birch plywood, so i ran two dado's with a 1/8" space between them. top is 1/2 deep while the bott is 1/4 deep. no track needed..its built right into the enclosure.

got a TON done today....took a million pics. not i gotta figure out how to load them on here for everyone to see
