Ok, so this may not mean much to anyone else but me, but Mercury (my recently adopted micro dragon) has been TERRIFIED of being picked up at any time... so I ALWAYS have to follow him around his tank to get him to feed him or bathe him.
Tonight, he was licking the air so I thought maybe he was thirsty. I poured a bath for him, and dripped water on his nose, and he drank.... but also tried his darndest to get out of the tub (as always). So, I put him back, burrito Taz to put him to bed, and of course, Mercury sees this (I sit in front of my computer with the burrito'd baby of the moment while putting them to bed and Mercury's tank is right behind my computer.) He starts glass dancing!!!    So, I think.... "nah, he's being silly... I "KNOW" he doesnt want me to pick him up! He HATES when I do that!" So, just to prove myself wrong, I slide the lid of his tank over, and reach for him (still holding Taz because I KNOW he's just gonna run anyway right?) WRONG!!!!! He stayed still, except to try to climb ONTO my wrist!!!!
So, I finish up with Taz, still convinced that there's JUST NO WAY Mercury wants me to pick him up.... and as he's still glass dancing, I reach for him again, and he again, stays still and LETS ME pick him up!!!!! Then I hold him in my hand close to my chest, and he relaxes! OMG at this point, Im SURE Im dreaming!!!! So, I gently pet his head, and he relaxes and closes his eyes! I held him loosely for about 15 minutes in complete awe that he wasnt trying to escape, and that I wasnt struggling to hold onto him while not hurting him! (That's HARD to do, because he's SO tiny and SO strong!!!) Ive never hurt him, but it doesnt stop me from worrying that I might next time I have to stop him from jumping from my hand!. At least I did worry about that! I think "we've made friends"!!!!! I PRAY it's not just a strange fluke, and that it's REALLY true!!!!
Anyway, he's back now sleeping in his viv. but I HAD to share!!!
Im SO EXCITED!!!!!!
HUGS!
