Hello! I am very excited to be bringing home my very first beardie home on Sunday (actually it's my first reptile ever!) While I can't wait for this new family member, I'm also a little overwhelmed and hesitant because I'm out of my element with this type of pet. With some help from my friends who have owned multiple bearded dragons I think I have it all down but just wanted to ask a couple more questions before Sunday comes around:

1) When is the best time to feed a dragon? I work 8 to 5 so I'm not sure when I should fit feedings into my schedule. The dragon I am getting is roughly six months old.

2) How soon after I bring him or her home should I start feedings? I've read in a couple of different places that you should wait awhile to let them get adjusted.

Sorry if these questions seem novice, I just want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to keep my new pet happy and healthy :)

You can feed him/her in the morning before work, but my Smauggie-girl eats twice a day. Maybe you can put some roaches in a low cup so he/she can get to them later? (Assuming you're doing dubias. I was against it when we brought her home in May, but then after months of crickets ... :bleick: Dubias are so much easier!)

I would offer food the same day ... Smauggie ate within hours of bringing her home, but she did jump into the cup to come home with us so ... She didn't need much adjusting! It just depends on the BD. Won't hurt to offer; you can always take it away and try again later. :)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
