German Giant or Regular ??

I have an opportunity to acquire one of these dragons: a 5 month old regular, or an adult german giant. I don't know much about gg's so not sure which would be best for me. They're both in 55 gal enclosures. Do gg's eat more, require different lighting, or anything else. Will the 55 gal be sufficient for it's life? I'm so confused - which should I get?

A true blooded german giant will be at least 24 inches long and hit 1000 grams easy. So yes it will eat proportionally.
Anything smaller than that MIGHT be a gg cross with something else.
Pick a dragon on by what makes you go ohhhhhhh or wow.

Hello and welcome!, where are you getting the German Giant from? I have heard they are extremely hard to find and to get. According to some people I have spoken to, they are pretty much extinct unless they are cross bred with something else?

Hi, thanks for the welcome. We're in Ontario. He's being sold by the prev. owner, who says he's a German Giant. Maybe he's not!

It would be interesting to know if he is 100% German Giant, I know even Reptio-Rios a website that breeds dragons, I asked her once for a German Giant and she told me most of hers were only 1/2 German Giant not full blooded. She also said (as well as others), they are extremely rare nowadays. So, who knows. Good Luck

I'll check with the guy on the 100% thing. I'm still not sure which to get though. This is our first bearded dragon, so wondering if an adult vs 5 months means much, or if this is a german giant, will it eat us out of house/home? This is a pet for my 2 boys, so it must be friendly too. (don't worry... I end up taking care of all the pets eventually anyway!) What do you suggest? -- baby vs adult?

A 5 months old will eat a lot more insects for a few months but I personally like raising a baby. I say the best thing to do in your case is go look at them and decide which has the personality you like.
