I just cannot believe this! I am in tears! I am pretty sure that Geogie's RI is back. It has been three weeks since she finished her last lot of antibiotics (fortum injections) and apart from still not eating, she was doing really well...alert and active, pooping regularly. For the last couple of days I have noticed that she hasn't been as active and wasn't struggling so much when I handled her. I have just sat looking at her and noticed that her breathing is deep again and she keeps doing this gulping thing in her throat. After two courses of antibiotics and three weeks later, surely it could not have come back again? I am at a loss!

Thats too bad. The only thing I could think of to do would be call the vet again to get more antibiotics. What is RI btw? I'm just curious what it is because is there some way for the dragon to maybe catch it again after the first problem?

I'm sorry it seems Georgie's respiratory infection is back again. At this point, it may be a good idea to have an experienced herp veterinarian do a pulmonary wash. In this way, they collect some of the debris in the lungs and identify the organism or organism present. If it is a bacterial infection they can test to find out exactly what antibiotic will be effective. Please keep us updated.

Thanks. The vet used was supposed to be experienced in exotic pets, but I think I will try another one as he has been treating her for some weeks and tried two different antibiotics, but doesn't seem to be solving the problem. After each course of antibiotics she seems to pick up for a while and then get sick again. I will make an appointment with the new vet tomorrow and let you know x

Hi, don't know if I am doing the right thing, but the vets don't seem to be much else and just want to keep giving Georgie more antibiotics which I feel are being really harsh on her. I have decided to hold out on the antibiotics for a few days and give Reptaid a try. I have read loads about it and people seem to be singing it's praises. It should arrive with me tomorrow and I will give it a few days to see if she picks up before taking her back to vets. I hope I am doing the right thing, but she has been ill for so long without the vet solving the problem, I figure a few more days is not going to make a difference while trying the Reptaid...fingers crossed

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
