I have a basic understanding of beardie genetics. But I'm trying to dig a little deeper.
I have a Hypo Italian leatherback het. trans male. I was thinking about breeding him next year to two different beardies. I have a female leatherback who is double het (possibly) for trans and hypo/leatherback. That was what I was told when I bought her. I'm guessing SHE is not Italian leather back and carries the recessive leather back trait. Which is confusing because I have read some say leatherback is NOT recessive and are only co dominate. And then I have read there are two types of leatherback genes, recessive AND co dominate. I'm guessing the second is correct(please correct me if I am wrong).
I want to know what the probabilities of the offspring would be. Since there is hypo, leather, and trans genes. How many will be het, visual for each and so forth...Will there be a chance of normals? Also, since she is 66% possibly het for trans and hypo, could she be one and not the other??
And my second female is a citrus tiger trans. Since my male is hypo, leather back and het for trans.... what are the probabilities of the offspring?
Thanks so much!
