Dregan never gapes in his enclosure and usually basks where it is 105-106 though his basking area ranges from 102 on the rock to 110 at the highest part of his branch. He's still a juvenile at 9 mo.
Anyway, my question is why does he keep gaping when we go outside in the heat? We live in Florida and it's in the 90's today here. I wasn't outside with him more than 5 minutes before he started gaping. Would it be ok for him to have stayed out longer? I've been bringing him back inside when he starts to gape because I don't want him to get dehydrated. Could it be the high humidity here?
On a side note, he looked really cute doing it. I should have gotten a pic.
