Gaining trust for my beardie

Well, my beardie is about 4 months old. He lets me pet him in his tank and has no problem with me moving things around in the tank. For the most part, he is really good about being handled. He lets me hold him and pet him. However, i noticed many people can just put their beardie on there shoulder and walk around and not have to worry about him jumping off. I have also read on this site of people bringing there beardies with them to stores and such. I want to know how to gain trust for my beardie. I know he wont hurt me or anything, but i want to be able to just let him sit on my shoulder without jumping off. This way, i can eventually take him out of the house occasionally. So if anybody has any idea of how i can learn to trust my beardie to not run away, or get my beardie to trust I wont hurt him, i would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Like the above poster said it takes time! The more time you spend with him the quicker he will sit on you!! Usually around 8 months to a year then they calm down enough to sit on you!! Good luck any questions just ask!!

i wouldn't even try a shoulder ride with my baby boy. he'd totally take off. my adults, well, sometimes they sit and take it all in, sometimes they jump. the closer to bedtime, the less likely they are to jump. i ran into a guy at petsmart with his beardies on his shoulder and i was impressed, jealous and envious but then one jumped off onto a bag of dog food and ran. i say shoulder rides should be limited to the house

thanks everyone. i held him for about 10m inutes this morning and he practically fell asleep on me! this has been the longest i have had him out without him stuggling to get away.
