So I thought I'd share these pictures, and I hope you think they're as cute as I do!

I have a cat, who's my pride and joy, no joke, lol.
Since I adopted my beardie Howie a few weeks ago, I've been contemplating letting the two of them meet. But I thought before I did that, I'd let Howie get settled into his new home.

So tonight was the night I decided I'd let them meet, face to face, without glass in between them. Obviously my cat, SeeJay, is more then interested!




(Don't worry, these pictures were taken right after I adopted Howie, since then I've changed the sand, since it was more then a little dirty! While I'm on the subject, what's your opinion on Calcium sand?)

So here's the pictures of their first face to face experience:
Howie was sitting on my knee, and jumped on top of SeeJay, and SeeJay smelled him, and didn't pay any more attention to him!



This picture is a little blurry (as I was trying to take the picture quickly so Howie didn't end up losing body parts while I was distracted!) but it was the only one I got with their noses touching!

I'm not fully comfortable with them together yet, but it's working out so far.
Actually as I'm typing this right now, Howie is exploring while SeeJay is following not far behind.

The worst that's happened so far is SeeJay tries to get his tail when he moves it, which he isn't actually hurting him or causing a threat to bite it off.

But yeah I'm glad I can have Howie exploring without being to afraid the cat will get him

Calcisand is awful awful stuff, which you'll probably hear from just about everyone here. Most sand in general is frowned upon, but I do know many keepers who keep their beardies on sifted play sand, but only when they're adults. My husband and I keep all of our reptiles on tile, so when they poo you can just wipe it right up. We also keep lots of stuff for them to climb on though(branches, porous rocks, etc.), because having just tile can cause their toes to do some funky stuff and grow funny, so having something that they can get their nails into helps.

yep, sand is terrible stuff, there is much better things to use.

The cat and dragon together is terrifying to me, especially if the cat is swatting at his tail. It only take a second for a scratch or bite to happen and catch injuries can get infected very quickly.

I will more then likely get rid of the sand today
And yeah I agree but my sister was there with me holding a squirt bottle and was ready to spray him if he did anything. When he was swatting at Howie's tail, he didn't have his claws out, so I assumed it was fine and he was just playing? Of course I didn't let the cat keep doing it though.
My cat listens better then my dogs do, lol. I can tell my cat from 20 feet away to get off the table and he does. When ever SeeJay got to close and made me nervous I would tell him no and he immediately backed off.

He most likely was playing but if instincts kick in, he can go from playing to hunting in a blink of the eye. Awesome that you trained your cat to listen so well, most people let their cats do what ever they please. I too have a cat, well its my daughters but she is away at military training so I have to tend to the nasty thing (sorry, I don't care much for cats) He is also fairly well trained and will stop if I tell him too.
I have multiple small animals in the house so the cat had to learn to leave them alone and he has for many years until recently, he took a running leap at my parrot the other day but I was close and was able to swat the cat before he chomped my feather baby, he would like to eat my baby dragon too but he leaves the adults alone.
