I have many reptiles and I am starting to run low on money. I have 1.1 dragons that aren't of breeding age, 1.2 leopard geckos that are breeding but no eggs have been fertile, and 1.1 pictus geckos that breed like crazy. I have at least 1.3....maybe 1.4 leopard geckos coming in soon, but they might still be too young to breed. I am 14 and I need some advise on ways to make enough money to at least feed all the herps without borrowing money. Thanks. Will answer any questions.

Are you in an area that you can have a dubia or some other roach colony? Once it gets going its free bugs.

I can but i was about to switch to all mealworms because I have some special needs reptiles that can't "catch" their food-they have to be hand fed.

I think both can be easily bred at home pretty easy, and you might have luck selling them on Craigslist.

Okay. Do you think I should just breed the worms? I have will have 11-12 reptiles plus babies (pictus babies must have pinheads)...how many beetles should I keep?

That's a lot of mouths! I counted the geckos wrong.
I don't deal with worms yet, so I don't know details on how to start a colony.
How are you getting your feeders now? What do you plan to do with the babies?

((Sorry, I don't have any really good ways to make money. My reptiles just keep spending mine))

I feel you lol. I am going to sell the babies. I go to shedskin reptiles in tracy for my feeders. When I start accumulating more herps I was planning to order online and maybe get 50 crickets a week for fun from him because I know he needs the business plus he is a friend

I dont know if youve thought of this but if you can wait till summer when i was your age i cut lawns around my home town during summer until i was about 18. Other then that maybe make money by selling feeders from a colony you start, or ask your parents or relatives for spring jobs you can do for money. I know around where i live theres alot of elderly people who need help cleaning their lawns up in the spring. Good luck!

I started out getting paid 10$ to mow with a rider and thats it but as i got older i got up to 20-30 dollars a lawn based on size but i also started doing trimming also with a weed eater. Idealy youd want at least 10$ for a hours worth of work but you can always shoot for more

depending on where you live right now, you could make a lot of money shoveling snow.
Yeah I live in the central valley in california...I have never seen snow in the town that I live in

Thanks I will try that. Everybody in my neighborhood has small lawns so i would have to use a push mower.

I would not feed mealworms though, they have a HARD chitin shell that can cause them to be impacted. Mealworms are not the most nutritious worms out there. Babies should never be fed mealworms as they are so hard to digest.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
